The Alpine 3800 Series
O chassis dos switches Alpine 3800 são ideais por fornecer serviços IP de banda larga para redes de Área Metropolitana (MANs), provedor de serviço, data centers empresariais e edifícios multi-tenant. A plataforma Alpine fornece total cobertura Ethernet com suporte para as medias Categoria 5 padrão e fibra ótica bem como as tecnologias que estendem o alcance de Ethernet sobre tecnologias VDSL e WAN.
A série Alpine 3800 inclui os switches Alpine 3802, Alpine 3804 e Alpine 3808. Todos os switches Alpine possuem fonte de alimentação completamente redundânte para aumentar a tolerância a falha. Adicionalmente, todos os módulos da série Apine 3800 são hot swappable permutáveis . |

Todas as unidades de fonte de alimentação dos switches Alpine 3804 e Alpine 3808 são load sharing, hot swappable e permutáveis, e cada um tem sua própria bandeja de ventilação hot swappable.
O Alpine 3808 tem nove slots com capacidade non blocking de 64Gbps, o Alpine 3804 tem cinco slots com capacidade non blocking de 32Gbps e o Alpine 3802 tem três slots com capacidade non blocking de 16Gbps. O primeiro slot de cada chassis é utilizado para o módulo de gerenciamento do switch (SMMi), o qual executa todas as funções de gerenciamento, controla o encaminhamento da base de dados e tabelas de roteamento, e processa todas as atualizações dos protocolos de roteamento. Os slots restantes de cada switch da série Alpine 3800 são utilizados para módulos permutáveis.
O Alpine 3802 chega em uma pequena forma de dois slots, suportando todos os módulos de interface existentes no Alpine 3800. Uma expansão do terceiro slot fornece suporte ao módulo WAN em uma configuração específica. Módulos WAN incluem módulos de quatro portas RJ-48-based T1 e WAN E1 (WM-4T1i e WM-4E1i), um módulo de uma porta BNC-based T3 WAN (WM-1T3i), e um módulo de oito portas RJ-21-based Ethernet 10BASE -T sobre o módulo VDSL (FM-8Vi) para suportar cabos UTP CAT1/2/3 UTP acima de 3000 pés.

• Links redundantes oferecem caminhos de dados ativos e backup .
• Interfaces Gigabit Ethernet Non blocking usando módulos G4Xi e G4Ti.
• Extreme Standby Router Protocol (ESRP) fornece redundância de Nível 2 e Nível 3 para um rápido e inteligente failover para uma rota default ou switch
• Integra server load balancing em wire speed aumentando extremamente a disponibilidade
• Integra transparent web cache redirection em wirespeed otimizando o uso de banda
